'The Comeback' Season 2 Spoilers: Series Returns After Long Hiatus, Premiere Updates Viewers
After a multi-year hiatus, 'The Comeback' is back on HBO. The first episode was a run down of what the characters have been up to since the cameras stopped rolling. The biggest news is that Valerie Cherish has landed her own starring role in an HBO reality show, while growing up as a person (sort of).
Series co-creator Michael Patrick King enthused about new developments with the character for the second season. "What I like about where we start this is she thinks she's spiritually evolved. She's sort of figured out what's happened to her."
Most of the rumors about the show involve the returning fan favorites. Malin Akerman and Kellan Lutz are set to return as bigger stars since they were last seen in season one. Lance Barber as Paulie G. will also be coming back to act as Valerie's main nemesis, and Valerie will of course be her own adorable self.
During a summer press tour, King said, "The DNA that we liked about Valerie is her in front of a camera unedited[...]this time we found a different way to get her in front of the camera because we wanted to evolve the character." However, King's co-creator, and series star Lisa Kudrow assured the series' patient fans that Valerie is still Valerie. "The show is the same as it was nine years ago," she said.
All in all, the show promises pick up where it left off, without leaving newcomers in the dust. The season premiere was a whirlwind of plot, filling in old fans and new viewers on who the characters are and what they had been doing since the first season.
