'The Breakfast Club' News: Film Returns to Theaters for 30th Anniversary - Molly Ringwald Comments

"The Breakfast Club,' which completes its 30th anniversary this year, is all set to release its 30th anniversary edition of the movie on Blu-ray and DVD on March 10, along with its re-entry into select theaters.

Molly Ringwald, who played the role of Claire Standish, spoke about the 30th anniversary of the movie in an interview with Time Magazine. She said, "If somebody told me that we would be on the phone talking about it 30 years ago, I don't think I would have believed you. I always loved the movie, I loved it when I filmed it, I just didn't know it would have the longevity that it seems to have had."

"The Breakfast Club' released in the year 1985 and the movie revolves around five high school students, who come from different stereotyped backgrounds. For the 30th anniversary Fathom Events is hosting a celebration in theaters across the country on March 26 and 31. The production company has created a featurette to show with a restored version of the movie that shares anecdotes from cast members and filmmakers, according to NBC.

For its 25th anniversary, the cast reunited in September 2010 for the celebration.

Talking about the movie's eternal appeal even today, Ringwald said, "There really hasn't been anything to replace it. It's kind of a classic because it all takes place in the one day, so there's just one wardrobe. There were less chances for it to look incredibly dated. The theme is something that is still really relevant today, which is that no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, everyone kind of feels the same, which is that they don't belong. And that's a sort of powerful theme," according to Time Magazine.
