'The Blacklist' Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers: NBC Postpones Episode 9 to February 2015; Releases New Super Bowl Promo [VIDEO]
NBC has announced that it has shifted Episode 9 of the 'The Blacklist' Season 2 to Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015. A new promo issued by the network says, "On February 1 after the Super-Bowl, 'The Blacklist' returns."
After that, 'The Blacklist' will be aired on Thursdays, instead of Mondays.
The newly released promo suggests that the upcoming episodes of 'The Blacklist' Season 2 will see one or more new villains being introduced to the series. In the Season 2 mid-season finale (Episode 8) titled "The Decembrist", viewers saw two main antagonists of the show - Alan Fitch and Berlin, being killed.
In the two-part 'The Blacklist' Season 1 finale, viewers came to know that Berlin is the unidentified enemy of Red, who has been going after the former's business interests and assets. In Season 2, Berlin disclosed that he is seeking vengeance, as he is of the view that Red is the person who killed his daughter and sent her body parts to him. However, in Episode 7, it was revealed that Berlin's daughter is not dead.
There were several surprising twists the mid-season finale episode, including the disclosure that it is actually Fitch who is responsible for spreading the story that Red killed Berlin's daughter. In addition, Fitch also blamed Red for a bombing in Kursk, Russia, which led to the death of 15 Berlin's associates.
It was also revealed that Fitch was the Decembrist. In due course, Berlin hunted Fitch down and put a high-tech bomb collar around his neck and before Fitch was killed by the bomb, he told Red that his death will set off a series of events. In addition, Fitch also disclosed the combination of a safe in St. Petersburg to Red, but he failed to tell the precise address of the safe. Subsequently, Red also shot Berlin dead.
The episode also showed Tom helping Liz to hunt down Berlin. In the dying moments of the episode, viewers saw Tom meeting Red, who gave him cash stacked envelope and told him not to meet Liz ever again.
Tom is also seen telling Red, "For what it's worth, I was tied up for four months on that ship, and I never told her about us. Not one word." He was suggesting that he may possibly have had some kind of deal with Red, in addition to indicating that he may be in love with Liz.
No doubt, when 'The Blacklist' returns on Feb 1, 2015, it will be an altogether new beginning for the show.
