'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Spoilers: Will Penny and Leonard Get Married in Upcoming Episode?

'The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 finale ended with a cliffhanger wherein fans saw Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) heading to Las Vegas to get married.

However, IB Times reports that things between the two become complicated soon after they embark on their journey. Matters worsen when Leonard confesses to Penny that he kissed another woman during a trip to the North Sea. Although Penny appeared to be unruffled by the trivial rashness of Leonard, it is likely that they may not get married.

A new spoiler in TV Line suggests that Leonard and Penny definitely gets "close to tying the knot," because the comedy television drama series on CBS is currently reported to be searching for a male actor to portray the character of the minister in the upcoming season.

This suggests that the duo will make it to the chapel for their wedding when 'The Big Bang Theory' returns for Season 9. The new season will pick up a few hours after the events of the Season 8 finale.

Talking to TV Line at the San Diego Comic-Con 2015, series executive producer Steve Molaro said, "We pick up a few hours after the Season 8 finale," adding, "Leonard and Penny were headed to Vegas, and we're going to catch up with them right there."

Apart from the story of Leonard and Penny, 'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 premiere will also divulge the story behind the ring Sheldon (Jim Parsons) bought for Amy (Mayim Bialik). Soon after Amy broke up with Sheldon as she wanted to re-assess their relationship, Sheldon surprised the viewers when he took out a ring and wondered what he was supposed to do with it, since Amy was no longer in his life.

While Molaro refused to comment on the ring and also whether or not Sheldon planned to propose, he revealed that the answers to both these questions would be revealed in the opening episode of Season 9.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, the executive produce revealed that Amy's primary concern is to move forward in life.

Molaro said, "Right now, [Amy] really wants to take a step back and think about where she is, where they are and how she wants to move forward in her life. I don't think she's necessarily in a rush to find another man, but I don't think she's ruling it out either."

'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 will premiere on CBS on Sept. 21.
