'The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 finale was an absolute cliffhanger for the fans of the CBS sitcom, as they witnessed the break-up of Amy and Sheldon. In fact, it was a total disappointment to see Sheldon taking out a ring!

Christian Today reports that the spoilers for 'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 would offer the fans some clues as to what they can expect in the upcoming episodes. Currently fans are speculating whether Sheldon and Amy will not reunite ever, or will Sheldon do something to express his genuine love for Amy and his desire to marry her.

In fact, when Sheldon took out the ring, it was quite clear that he would be proposing to Amy. However, Business Insider reports that speaking at the San Diego 2015 Comic-Con panel, 'The Big Bang Theory' show runner Steven Molaro revealed that the actual story behind the ring and if Sheldon really intended to propose to Amy will be disclosed in the upcoming season.

The show runner further said that the story of Sheldon and Amy will unfold in the opening episode of 'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9.

Meanwhile, Design&Trend reported that when 'The Big Bang Theory' writer Eric Kaplan was asked if the upcoming season will focus on Amy's backstory, he replied that he too wanted to know about that part of the story. The website quotes Kaplan as saying that fans may learn that Amy had a "great, great uncle who didn't play by the rules."

An earlier report in The Hollywood Reporter stated that the story of Sheldon and Amy is anything but over. In fact, Molaro told the publication that he is also not aware of what will happen, but it's certain that Sheldon is "clearly fond" of Amy.

Molaro said, "I don't think they're done speaking by any means. He's so fond of her - something is going to happen between them, I'm sure."

'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 21 on CBS.
