Spoilers of 'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 suggest that the upcoming season of the sitcom will focus on the relationship between Sheldon and Amy. The ninth season of the long-running CBS series will premiere on Sept. 21.

According to Kdramastars, 'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 spoilers suggested that Sheldon and Amy could take their relationship to the next level in the upcoming episodes. Then again, Leonard and Penny, as well as Raj and Emily, may possibly be taking a step back.

In 'The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 finale, fans saw several cliffhangers, including Sheldon bringing out an engagement ring, Leonard and Penny having qualms about getting married and Raj breaking off his relation with Emily.

Meanwhile, talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the series executive producer Steve Molaro said, "I don't know how long Sheldon's had that [ring]."

"I have an idea but I'm not going to tell you! I don't know if the length of time matters so much as the situation where Amy has taken a legitimate step back that he was not expecting," he added.

Molaro further told the publication that fans of the Sheldon-Amy pairing, fondly called as ShAmy, need not worry, as the two would soon get back together. According to rumors, the two may actually get married in 'The Big Bang' Season 9. Now it remains to be seen if their wedding will take place before Penny and Leonard's marriage or they will have a double wedding.

Talking to the website, Molaro said, "I don't know exactly what's going to happen but Sheldon's clearly fond of her." He added, "We don't know exactly where they are but after five years, I think the answer is in the question."

"They have been dating, this is the fifth anniversary of their first date, and she can't even get through a make-out session without him thinking about television, so I understand her frustration," the executive producer explained.

Before concluding, Moralo said, "At the same time, I understand his side, which is: How much faster do you think I can go with this? It's an interesting place for them to be; it seems very real and I think it's exciting that we're shaking things up."
