'The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 Episode 10 Recap, Spoilers: Sheldon Shows His Emotional Side?
Despite the comedic theme of 'The Big Bang Theory', every now and again the show unveils a serious and somewhat emotional side.
On the tenth episode of the show's eighth season, "The Champagne Reflection" revealed that the show has an introspective side, it also gave the showrunners a chance to focus and have a more thoughtful look at each of the characters.
In the episode, Sheldon was doing his "Fun With Flags" segment and was impersonating Betsy Ross, whom according to Sheldon, did not design the United States flag, as he gets emotional that "Sheldon Cooper Presents Fun With Flags," will finally come to an end.
Amy, on the other hand was dressed as a kangaroo while Kripke plays "Flag or Not a Flag."
Meanwhile, Penny was at a work party with Dan, who hired her because of their mutual fear of Bernadette, who Dan described as a "vicious little blonde."
Dan's fear of Bernadette stemmed from a company picnic where she yelled at him and his grandson for losing a three-legged race.
But when Penny told Bernie that her co-workers were afraid of her, she was shocked and said she "should be in a tree baking cookies," adding that she was only taught by her father to not take crap from people.
At the same time, Raj, Leonard and Howard were in Pasadena and were cleaning the office of the late Professor Abbott, the three were tasked of cleaning his office to find any important work.
While sorting through the things in the office, the three found a bottle of champagne that the late professor's mother gave him 50 years ago. The bottle was to be opened when Abbott made his first major discovery.
As they were cleaning, Howard found Abbott's journals, which contained data of his work that could have led to the major discovery, which could have resulted to the opening of the bottle.
While Raj found the contact info of a professor who once shared an office with Abbott, Leonard and Howard believes that the data in the journal could be decrypted by a supercomputer.
The three managed to find Professor Sharp and they were informed that the contents of the journal were nothing more than Abbott's food diaries.
They returned to the office saddened by the fact that Abbott did not make an impact on science and they made a pact that when one of them makes a major discovery, they will open the champagne and toast the late professor.
However, the pact will never be realized because Sheldon opened the champagne to celebrate the renewal of "Fun With Flags," due to the viewer's demands.
