'The Batman' News: Ben Affleck Confirmed to Write and Direct Solo Superhero Film

While it has been rumored for the past couple weeks that Batman actor Ben Affleck would be directing his own solo film in the next coming years, reports have now confirmed that to be true, as well as the news that he'll be writing the movie alongside DC's Geoff Johns.

It makes sense that the actor would be bestowed with such an opportunity, as he is accredited as an Oscar-winning filmmaker, as well as being the actor most closest with the character.

Geoff Johns is also a big name next to a lot of DC properties in comics and TV shows such as 'Arrow,' 'The Flash,' and more.

"Johns has about as much comic cred as anybody around. He's DC Comics' chief creative officer and has written some of its best remembered comic book series including Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League, The Flash and Superman. He also has written TV series superhero transfers Smallville, Arrow and The Flash, as well as the Supergirl project with Greg Berlanti for CBS," writes Deadline.

This news should get fans as excited for the solo superhero film thats been confirmed to be titled 'The Batman,' just as much as anything DC Warner Bros. plans on producing.

"My studio sources tell me that Affleck and Johns are well in synch and have more than found their rhythm. In fact, they are likely to turn in a script before the end of the summer, prior to Affleck going off to direct Live By Night in November. Affleck postponed that pic to star in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. The Batman movie would shoot after he finishes Live By Night, and the plot would reflect the Batman character that emerges after Batman V Superman and Justice League, the latter of which comes out November 17, 2017," writes Deadline.

'The Batman' hasn't yet received an official release date.
