'The Banner Saga' Coming To PlayStation Vita, PS4 And Xbox One, Sony Helps Developer Stoic

"The Banner Saga" developer, Stoic, is set to complete its port for the PlayStation Vita with Sony's help.

`According to PC Magazine, Sony and Stoic are working together to fuel the improvement of "The Banner Saga," as PlayStation Vita 2 is not yet going to hit the market. Reports say that the restriction for the second version of the handheld device is governed by the market demand, which is not that high at the moment.

"The Banner Saga" gets a steady progress for the time being. Earlier this month, posts in Stoic's forums indicated that the developer had given up on its PlayStation Vita port. The video game was supposed to be done in July; however, the company Stoic had hired to complete all the game's console and handheld conversions had folded, leaving the developer with a big bill and no ports.

Despite the rough roads, Stoic found a new company, Versus Evil, to continue porting the game to PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In August, the two companies work together on the port's development.

Stoic technical director John Watson wrote on Stoic Studio that the side effect of the company's action was that they had had to put the PlayStation Vita port on the back burner. Watson added that he had been excited about the Vita port since day one and he would have loved to see the "The Banner Saga" sunning on his own Vita.

To get Stoic's port back, Sony reportedly stepped in to help out through its partnership with Versus Evil, according to Engadget. While the arrangement details are unclear for the time being, it is assumed that the multinational company would assist Stoic's finances and take part of the game's profit if the port's sales lands well.
