‘The Angry Birds Movie’ Trailer, Spoilers: Film To Present Origin Story Of The Birds, Piggies
Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly's upcoming animated film "The Angry Birds Movie" is set to feature an origin story, according to recent reports.
In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, "The Angry Birds Movie" producer John Cohen said that the film was the origin story for how the conflict between the birds and the green piggies had come to exist. This suggests that fans would understand why the birds and the pigs have war in the "Angry Birds" game.
With regard to the "Angry Birds" game itself, director Reilly voiced his thoughts about creating a cinematic adaptation of the iconic game. In the same interview, Reilly said that there were icons in a game that appear to be characters, but they were just really icons.
Reilly went on to say that it was an advantage that they had such a huge brand, noting that a lot of iconic films came from branded entertainment. For the director, one had to quickly forget about branding when he was working on the film, as one still had to make it.
Although "Angry Birds" did not demand a cinematic adaptation, it has a relatively good stand as one of the great video game adaptations, according to Screen Rant. With a quite an unestablished story in the game, the film creators can build the story from a blank slate.
"The Angry Birds Movie" stars the voices of Peter Dinklage as Mighty Eagle, Bill Hder as Leonard, Jason Suideikis as Red, Maya Rudolph as Matilda, Josh Gad as Chuck, and Danny McBride as Bomb, among others.
With Kaytis and Reilly helming the film, Jon Vitti is on board to pen the film screenplay. Catherine Winder, John Cohen, Mikael Hed, and David Maisel will co-produce the film.
Kaytis and Reilly's "The Angry Birds Movie" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 20, 2016.
