'The Americans' Season 5 Spoilers: Philip And Liz Return To USSR? What Will Happen To Mischa?
The finale of "The Americans" season 4 revealed Mischa, who makes a trip to the US to find his father, Philip. However, he and Elizabeth are thinking of going back to the Soviet Union. Will they ever meet?
Sadly, spoilers for "The Americans" are silent on these two questions. Leaving behind their duplicitous existence and going home is still one of the biggest subjects that the couple spy will tackle in future episodes.
Co-creator Joe Weisberg told the Wall Street Journal, said that finally deciding to introduce Philip's son was one of the more satisfying things they have done because that means creating a whole person and trying to think of his character.
Joel Fields added that Mischa was created because the story needed a character like him.
"This part of the story unfolded organically, as the story was told, like in that first episode with Irina when she mentioned the son? That was something that blossomed out of the script," he added.
The two co-creators, however, did not give spoilers for "American" season 5 on what happens to Mischa and also whether or not the couple will relocate their children to the USSR.
Meanwhile, FX has extended "The Americans" for two more seasons for 2017 and 2018.
Eric Schrier, co-president of FX Networks and Productions, told the website that the remaining two seasons will give Fields and Weisberg plenty of room to wrap up the whole saga into a "perfect conclusion."
Although there's still no spoilers for "The Americans" season 5, Weisberg nevertheless is already looking ahead as he revealed that there are four alternative endings for the series. "We're pretty well honed in on a zone we're going to go to, but we haven't decided for sure," he added.
