'The Americans' Season 4 Episode 4 Spoilers: The Jennings Kill Nina; Martha And Paige To Face Destructions?

Just when everybody thought everything was fine, the 4th episode of "The Americans" season 4 shockingly dealt with death.

The previous episode of "The Americans" season 4 saw the death of one of the veteran characters of the series, Nina. Her unexpected murder came after she smuggled a note to the son of her scientist through her brother.

Nina's time seemed to have been nearing since the 3rd season. When she was deported to Russia, she began to function on her own and have some serious backdoor dealings in her Russian holding facility. Ultimately, her character became a threat to Elizabeth and Phillip, and the Jennings had no choice but to kill her.

Viewers of the series know that Phillip has been thinking about the pros and cons of killing Nina all along, all because he has a family to protect. Elizabeth's fearless character, on the other hand, has always been aware of the perilous nature of her job.

It is safe to say that Nina's death was brought by her confidence in taking too many ill-timed risks, and it just so happened that one of those risks she took coincided with a an unflinching decision made by the Jennings.

Aside from the death of Nina, the episode also saw Elizabeth and Phillip sparing Pastor Tim and his wife.

While events in "Chloramphenicol" left so many questions, and while it is sad to see actress Annet Mahendru leave, the show must go on. The biggest question now is, now that Nina is gone, how long will it be before Martha and Paige face their own destructions as well?
