'The Americans' News: Margo Martindale Wins Back-To-Back Emmy Awards For Best Drama Guest Actress

"The Americans" Margo Martindale made history when she won the Best Drama Guest Actress award for two consecutive years. The actress also won Best Drama Supporting Actress for her role in "Justified" in 2011.

Other actresses who are two-time winners in the category are Patricia Clarkson, Shirley Knight, Amanda Plummer and Alfre Woodard. However, not one of them won back-to-back trophies.

Margo Martindale won over 2014 winner Allison Janney of "Masters of Sex," 2013 winner Carrie Preston of "The Good Wife," Ellen Burstyn of "House of Cards," Laurie Metcalf of "Horace and Pete," and Molly Parker of "House of Cards."

The actress had this year her fourth nomination for her role in "The Americans," where she portrays Claudia, the ex-KGB handler for undercover spies Elizabeth and Philip Jennings.

"The Americans" features Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, who raise American children during the Cold War. In season 4, the series took a turn when the couple exposed their real identities to Paige Jennings, their daughter.

Its current season is coming to an end, but two more seasons are slated for release to bring conclusion to the long-running FX series.

In his interview with Deadline, executive producer Joel Fields talked about the final two seasons of the drama.

"It's hard to believe we're heading into the final stretch on 'The Americans,' and we're so grateful to know we'll be telling the story to its conclusion. It's a lot of people putting their hearts and souls into 'The Americans,' at this point for a lot of years. We're looking forward to the final two," he said.
