‘The Amazing Race 25’ Episode 9 Recap: ‘You’re Taking My Tan Off’, Teamwork, Backstabbing, & More

'The Amazing Race' aired the ninth episode of its 25th season on Friday, which was filled with successful and failed attempts at teamwork, backstabbing, and more.

The episode titled "You're Taking My Tan Off" featured the five remaining teams in the ninth leg of the race facing all sorts of challenges as they traveled from Malta to Singapore.

The Surfers, Adam and Bethany, were first to depart, followed by The Dentists, Misti and Jim, at second place. After a mix up over the flight schedules, the two teams ended up arriving at Singapore at 6:40, compared to The Cyclists, Kym and Alli; Sweet Scientists, Amy and Maya; and The Wrestlers, Brooke and Robbie; who managed to find a flight and land at Singapore at 6 o'clock.

The teams then faced the decision between claiming a Fast Forward or not. The Cyclists decided to head to Sintosa Island to tackle a Flowrider, while the rest of the teams chose to skip the Fast Forward and head to Marina Bay Sands Hotel instead. However, The Surfers doubled back and decided to take the Flowrider challenge and ended up bypassing The Cyclists to head straight for The Fullerton Pavilion.

The other teams who went to the hotel are faced with a Roadblock and a challenge of tightrope walking, before rushing off Center Square Raffles Place to choose between a detox "China Cups" massage or cracking open "Chili Crabs" covered in chili sauce.

Trouble arose during the confusing Double U-Turn which ended up in a modified strategy by the Sweet Scientists.

They decided to U-Turn The Cyclists, while The Wrestlers did not care to U-Turn The Surfers, lied about going back to put up the U-Turn and lied about not knowing the last clue for the MerLion challenge. In the end, it was The Cyclists who ended up in last place after their lengthy turn at the Flowrider, and after The Wrestlers passed on targeting The Surfers.

This leaves four teams competing for the final race who hope to win the $1 million dollars.

Despite the excitement of the latest episode, 'The Amazing Race' finds itself slipping down 17 percent to earn a 1.0 in ratings compared to last week's 1.2.

They earned an estimated viewer count of 5.31 million based on the tally by Nielsen. It remains to be seen if they will be able to pick up the numbers before the finale airs in December.

'The Amazing Race' airs on CBS every Friday at 8 pm.
