'The 100' Season 4 News, Spoilers: Zach McGowan Finally Promoted In The Series?

After debuting on "The 100" season 3, Zach McGowan will finally have a more permanent place in the series.

The news that he will be promoted to a series regular in season 4 was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 following the announcement that his other show, "Black Sails," will end with its upcoming season. 

McGowan plays the role of an Ice Nation fugitive named Roan in "The 100," The CW's popular post-apocalyptic science fiction drama.

Fans of Roan who have been wondering about the fate of their favorite character since the last season ended in May were relieved to learn about McGowan's promotion. The last time that viewers saw Roan in the first episode of the two-part season 3 finale, when he was shot by Kane and was dragged away by Grounders.

The first half of the season 3 finale saw Roan helping Clarke deal with an armistice between Arkadia and the Ice Nation. However, things turned into chaos and both of them ended up fleeing. The last time viewers caught a glimpse of Roan was when he was being taken away, bloodied.

Just when fans thought that Roan will no longer appear in season 4, McGowan confirmed that he creators of the series were so impressed by his portrayal of his role that they had decided to promote him as a series regular.

Meanwhile, showrunner Jason Rothenberg revealed that the Earth will "strike back" in the upcoming season.

"We'll see the environment beginning to collapse and crazy s---!," he said, according to TV Addict.

"The 100" season 4 premieres next year on The CW.
