Tesla Model 3 Price, News, Update: Company May Be Overwhelmed With Massive Pre-Order Deliveries?
As of this update, there are already 325,000 pre-orders for the Tesla Model 3. Can Elon Musk supply the demand?
Based on its previous records, then the answer is no, according to The Daily Beast.
"Tesla has not actually sold any Model 3s and there are a wide range of reasons for believing that these pre-order eggs will not hatch into the chickens that Tesla is already counting," it said.
The company itself revealed the massive pre-order deliveries for the Tesla Model 3 as it anticipates $14 billion in future sales. In fact, 114,000 people have already put in $1,000 deposit to get first priority when it launches in late 2017. The base price starts at $35,000.
"The company also joked that it would have written more on the subject, but needed to get back to increasing its Model 3 production plans," CNBC news said. "Tesla shares were down 2.6 percent to $258.50 midmorning Thursday."
That prompted a report which suggested that Musk is using the news update on the pre-orders as a way to spike its stock in the market, especially since the company's cash reserves have plummeted below $1 billion.
"The company needs more cash to actually complete development of the Model 3 and bring it to market," the news report added on why the company jumped the gun on the pre-orders.
"Tesla has been burning cash at a remarkable rate over the last year in order to ramp up Model X production and develop the Model 3."
The company has said that the 325,000 pre-orders they received when they shared the news were double than what they anticipated to deliver.
