'Tekken 7' Release Date News: ‘Fated Retribution’ Coming In Early 2017? Game Not Supporting Cross Platform Play?

Along with details that Bandai Namco's "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" not supporting cross platform play, new details on the game's release date have surfaced.

"Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" is rumored to be released in the early part of 2017, Game N Guide has learned. As per the publication, this was ignited by the Twitter post of game enthusiast and "Tekken" fan Wonkey (@Flying Wonkey). On Aug. 21, he tweeted that "Tekken 7" is set to be released in the last week of Feb. 2017.

Bandai has not yet given any comment with regards to Wonkey's information, according to WCCF Tech. This suggests that the details have to be taken as a grain of salt until the studio's official announcement.

In other news, "Tekken 7" producer and game director Katsuhiro Harada revealed that the game is not bound to support cross platform play.

In his tweet, as cited by NeoGAF via Game Rant, game director Katsuhiro Harada explained that it was not a matter of the technology for getting the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players to match up against each other being the issue, but rather first-party company policies and potential security risks alongside the community perceived reputation of PC gamers being cheaters that was hindering the decision to let cross platform play.

According to the publication, Harada and the game team may have been challenged in persuading console gamers to have them use the feature. Also, they might not be able to establish a completely secure cross-platform system, which may outbalance the risks, as per the report.

Published by Bandai Namco, "Tekken 7" was initially released for Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and arcade in 2015.
