'Tekken 7' Release Date News: Bandai’s Title Gets Early 2017 Launch; Trailer Features A ‘Street Fighter’ Character
New details on the release date of "Tekken 7" have surfaced and it is revealed that it is set to be released in 2017. Also, the title has just featured a "Street Fighter" character.
"Tekken 7" developers Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray from Bandai Namco have announced during Microsoft's presentation at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016 that the hit video game is set to be released in early 2017, Game Spot has learned.
The trailer for "Tekken 7" also featured a cross-over between the upcoming game title and Capcom's "Street Fighter" through the "Street Fighter" character Akuma. In the trailer, Akuma comes face to face with "Tekken" frontman Heihachi Mishima. Along with the dynamic combat between the two, it is revealed that Akuma is set to fulfill a promise to Kazumi Mishima, which reveals that the two characters have some ties in a way.
According to The Verge, two "Tekken" and "Street Fighter" cross-overs were announced in 2010 - "Street Fighter x Tekken" and "Tekken x Street Fighter." However, between the two, only the former materialized, which was two years later. The latter did not happen and in the succeeding years, the release of cross-over titles for the two games declined up to present. Nonetheless, it is assumed that "Tekken 7" could ignite once again a cross-over between the two hit game titles.
Meanwhile, Harada and Murray also revealed this week that "Tekken tag Tournament 2" is bound to be a free title for Xbox Live Gold members. Akuma's inclusion to the game is not new, since it was announced in Dec. 2015.
Overall, Bandai Namco' "Tekken 7" is set to be released for the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows in the early part of 2017. Watch the E3 trailer here.
