The opening cinematic video for the highly anticipated 7th installment of the 'Tekken' fighting game franchise has been released and teases an intense scene.
The trailer features long time rivals Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima in an over the top intense duel atop a volcano. Newcomer Kazumi Mishima made a short appearance in the opening also.
Kazumi will be one out of many new characters that will be in the upcoming game.
"The current roster in Tekken 7's location test features the following returning fighters: Alisa, Asuka, Bryan, Dragunov, Feng, Heihachi, Hwoarang, Kazuya, King, Lars, Law, Leo, Lili, Paul, Steve and Xiaoyu. Two new characters, Katarina - not Catalina, as previously reported - and Claudio are also playable," writes Polygon.
More recently announced is Shaheen, a Saudia Arabian fighter, which will be a first for the fighting game franchise.
Lucky Chloe was also announced. This character is described as a cat-themed female fighter.
"Tekken 7 was announced last year. The game, which is powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 4, will be released for Japanese arcades this year, though console plans have not yet been announced. Series executive producer and game director Katsuhiro Harada was quoted as saying that "with Unreal Engine 4, we can rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire," writes Gamespot.
