'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Sequel News: 'TMNT 2' to Start Filming in NYC & Buffalo in April 2015
Fans cannot wait for their favorite heroes in a half shell to return to the big screen. And with that, the sequel to the controversial yet successful live-action film of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set to start filming in April, at locations in New York City and Buffalo.
According to NY Daily News, $63 million will be spent shooting in the Big Apple and $7 million in Buffalo, estimating a rough $70 million in total.
NYC Mayor de Blasio said in a statement, "New York City knows how to host blockbuster films. We welcome 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' to New York City, and look forward to the many jobs and tens of millions of jobs this will bring to our local economy."
Earth to Echo's David Green will be directing the follow-up film, replacing Johnathan Liebesman. Green will adapt the film from a Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec script and will be produced by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form and Michael Bay.
However, many spoilers and plot details have yet to be released. Nevertheless, TMNT villains Bebop and Rocksteady have been confirmed to appear in the film. Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick and William Fichtner as Shredder are expected to return but nothing official has been signed.
The first film also starred the voice stylings of Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Johnny Knoxville as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello and Tony Shalhoub as Splinter.
Despite the bad reviews from fans and critics alike, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles owned of the top two spots at the Box Office, bringing in over $485 million worldwide, according to Fansided.
As it stands, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2016.
