If latest reports are to be believed, 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' producers are planning to cast bodybuilders as extras for scenes that will be filmed in New York City this month. Meanwhile, director Dave Green and screenwriter Josh Appelbaum recently spoke regarding the importance of the city in the movie franchise.

A report in IB Times stated that according to a casting announcement on ClaimFame, the producers of the movie are currently searching for male bodybuilders with heights between 6 feet 3 inches and 6 feet 5 inches, to serve as the body double for cast member Stephen Farrelly, who is likely to portray the character of Rocksteady in the upcoming movie.

Currently, the cast and crew of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' are in New York City to film their scenes. In an interview with USAToday, Appelbaum said that like Batman has Gotham city and Superman has Metropolis, the "Turtles" are among some of the superheroes who reside in New York City. According to Applebaum, going to places like Madison Square Garden, Grand Central as well as the Hayden Planetarium manifests the "spirit and history" of the franchise.

Meanwhile, director Green siad that since the superheroes in this movie franchise are ninjas as well as mutants, they need to live underground as well as "in the shadows." Explaining further, Green said the city has an "immense subterranean universe," alongside a subway system as well as gas and power lines that run below the city. The director shared that his team considered "all these little nooks and crannies of the city," while exploring locations for 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.'

Actor Stephen Amell, who portrays the character of Casey Jones in the movie, added that there is "certain energy about the city." When a bus packed with sightseers came around Times Square where he was filming the actor felt that "there were flashbulbs everywhere," when the people in the bus saw the filming crew. According to Amell, he had no option but say "Hiiiii!" to the onlookers.

A recently released video from the sets of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' shows Megan Fox driving a car with Smell sitting beside her. Another photograph from the set shows Casey Jones' car and the actor Amell filming a scene. This behind-the-scenes photo shows Amell along with Will Arnet, who will be portraying the character of Vernon Fenwick.
