'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' Cast News: 'Arrow' Star Stephen Amell to Play Casey Jones in TMNT Sequel

The CW star of the hit series "Arrow" has just landed himself a role in the world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this weekend following his audition.

Stephen Amell who plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on "Arrow" has been chosen to play the vigilante Casey Jones for the sequel of Michael Bay's live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Back in the series of films, Elias Koteas starred as Casey Jones. Slash Film described the character as "a wild card hero without any powers except a ton of bravery, the ability to take a beating, and a great skill set with all sorts of blunt objects. The signature Casey Jones look is a goalie mask and hockey stick."

Amell, upon the announcement of his new role tweeted a comic picture of Jones and captioned it with "Somebody find me a hockey mask!!!"

According to Variety, Amell was one of half a dozen actors to test for the role. He landed it mostly for his on-set chemistry with Megan Fox, who played April O'Neil in last year's film. The two will most likely have a romantic relationship for the sequel. Fox along with Will Arnett will return for the sequel.

Also expected to join the cast are characters Bebop and Rocksteady. However, these two characters have not yet been casted. On a side note, filming for the sequel starts shooting in April.

The crew has already filmed one scene, various sources report. They taped a basketball game during which Will Arnett's character, Vernon Fenwick, takes his new love interest Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio out on a date and the two share a kiss.

Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form will return to produce the show from a script written by John Applebaum and André Nemec.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is slated for a June 3, 2016 premiere.
