The mid-season return of the fifth season of MTV's "Teen Wolf" might begin with Stiles' (Dylan O'Brian) father, Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) in the hospital along with an emotional Stiles; feeling helpless and confused about the situation of his father.

According to International Business Times, the Sheriff's condition is worse than what everyone thought. Not only did he got injured from the fight with Theo, but his body is also suffering from a "mysterious infection." The Sheriff's condition may be hard to recover from since Theo has access to many dread doctors and he could have chosen an alien infection that's so out of this world that no one would have the knowledge of curing it.

In the trailer, we see that Stiles and Scott have gotten themselves in a fight with one another in the hospital. We see Stiles angrily throwing Scott on the ground, mounts him and asks him, "Where were you Scott?" Despite the conflict between the two, the synopsis for the up and coming episode says that they will be teaming up in an operation help save the Sheriff's life.

The synopsis of the next episode entitled "The Last Chimera" reads:

"In spite of the deep rift in their friendship, Scott and Stiles must strive to figure out what's behind the mysterious infection that's killing Sheriff Stilinski."

This friendship might only be temporary and might only last if the Sheriff is able to fight the infection and survive his predicament.

Stiles' fear of his past will have an impact with his relationship with Scott. According to executive producer Jeff Davis, the two aren't actually gonna stay friends for a very long time.

"Teen Wolf's" mid-season 5 premiere will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 9 p.m. on MTV.
