NBA 2015 News: Team Africa vs. Team World Lineups Announced

Back in April, the NBA announced that it would be playing its first game in Africa featuring a Team Africa vs. Team World format. And recently, the participants in the unprecedented event on Aug. 1 were announced.

The list of African-born and second generation African players include two-time NBA All-Star Luol Deng (born in South Sudan), Al-Farouq Amino (parents from Nigeria), Giannis Antetokounmpo (parents from Nigeria), Nicolas Batum (parent from Cameroon), Bismack Biyombo (Democratic Republic of Congo), Boris Diaw (parent from Senegal), Gorgui Dieng (Senegal), Festus Ezeli (Nigeria), Luc Mbah a Moute (Cameroon), and recovering Serge Ibaka (Congo).

Team World is captained by NBPA President and eight-time All-Star Chris Paul, Bradley Beal, Kenneth Faried, Marc Gasol, Paul Gasol, Jeff Green, Marcus Smart, Evan Turner, and Nikola Vucevic.

"It will be my first time to visit the continent, and I cannot wait to contribute to the growth of the game on and off the court," Paul said in a league statement.

As noted by Ball Don't Lie, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich will be coaching the African squad, and will be joined by fellow Coach of the Year winner and former assistant Mike Budenholzer of the Atlanta Hawks, and former Spurs player Monty Williams.

"I am extremely proud to be part of the NBA's first game in Africa," Deng said in a league statement, who as Ball Don't Lie pointed out, spent time last season recruiting NBA players to participate.

"Now, to finally have a chance to bring the game we all love home to Africa"¦it's really hard to explain how much that means. It will impact people for the rest of their lives."

The game will take place at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa, and will be played in support of the Boys & Girls Club of South Africa, SOS Children's Villages Association of South Africa and the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
