Taylor Swift News: '1989' Singer Donates $15000 to Firefighter and his Family
When Taylor Swift read about the story of Aaron Van Riper, she was truly touched.
Van Riper, a volunteer firefighter from Riverside, Texas, was working on June 15 when there was an emergency dispatch that a car and pickup truck were involved in a head on collision.
However, when he arrived on the scene, he discovered that the victims of the crash included his wife, Amber, and his son, Jonathan.
Van Riper's wife was catapulted from the vehicle, and his son, who is 7 years old, was trapped inside of the vehicle.
Both of them had to be flown to the nearest hospital in order to recover from their serious injuries.
Unfortunately, the family does not have enough insurance to cover the medical bills, which continue to pile up.
The bills are now at a total of more than one hundred thousand dollars, and continue to mount.
Due to this, a relative of the family decided to set up an online page so that donations could be taken in order to help to relieve the family of this insurmountable debt.
The family's situation caught the attention of Swift, who donated a total of $15,000 to the page on gofundme.
Van Riper's brother, Marc, shared a link to the page with Swift's name on it, and the donation amount, adding, "Uhhh not sure if you saw this Aaron... Truly amazing."
Robin Davis, a family friend was also excited, sharing the news via an extensive post on Facebook, revealing that she was truly touched by the star's random act of kindness, one of Swift's defining qualities.
