TAG Heuer Smartwatch Price, News: A High-End Luxury Brand, Classical Looks, But Changes Into Digital

TAG Heuer is traditionally a maker of high-end mechanical watches and other luxury accessories. It has recently partnered with Google and Intel last November, which led to the creation of the company's first smartwatch - the Carrera Connected. The watch sells for $1,500, which is expected for a high-end luxury brand but the new features are truly superb.

According to the CEO of TAG Heuer, Jean-Claude Biver, the smartwatch is the product of one-year research and development. It is also the product of the innovative partnership with two technology giants, Google and Intel. As the CEO pointed out, the watch is the product of the marriage between the Swiss Watch Valley and the American Silicon Valley.

The new smartwatch has the appearance of the classic TAG Heuer Carrera dial but it changes into digital form when the screen is touched. The watch casing is titanium and has the outward appearance of a mechanical clock but in reality it has a very powerful miniaturized computer system. The scheduled release of the watch in the UK was on the 9th of December of last year, but according to some select retailers, the first batch has already been sold out.

Many of the specs of the watch are not yet publicized but it is known that it has Intel processor with 4 GB of internal memory. It also has WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Its operating system is Android Wear, which means that it can be synchronized with Android and iOS mobile devices. However, it lacks other features such as GPS, heart rate sensor and built-in speaker.
