'System Shock' Remake News: Nightdive Achieves Success Mark With A Kickstart Campaign
Nightdive Studios achieved success with the conclusion of its "System Shock" remake Kickstarter campaign.
The studio got $1,350,700 pledges from 21,625 sources, Games Spot has learned. As per the publication, the output was more than the $900,000 target, which suggests that the studio's stretch goals were met. The publication noted that their milestone encompassed the Mac and the Linux versions and Razer Chroma support, in addition to the inclusion of crew members, audio logs, new areas, and languages.
As per reports, Nightdive is still open to crowdfunding, with PayPal as the mediator. The studio has not begun anything in this regard, which means fans have to wait for further announcement.
According to Destructoid, it is further revealed that the availability of the remaining stretch goals through the PayPal crowdfunding is yet to be confirmed; however, it is assumed that fans are set to see things like full mod support, death cinematics, full orchestral score, and Oculus Rift and HTC Vive support. The aforementioned are the extras that are set to be included, as per the publication.
Nightdive's Kickstarter campaign started in the latter part of June, after the release of its initial footage in March. The studio is also working on "System Shock 3," which is spearheaded by first game producer Warren Spector.
Initially released in 1994, "System Shock" is a first-person action role-playing game set aboard a 2071 space station. It follows a nameless hacker, who makes an attempt to stop the evil plans of the artificial intelligence called SHODAN.
Nightdive's "System Shock" remake is set to be released on the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows in the latter part of 2017 and on the PlayStation 4 in early 2018. Exact details on the exact release date are yet to be revealed.
