'System Shock 3' News & Update: Game Gets All-Star Team, Shodan’s Come Back, Plot Changes

Along with talks about changes in plot details and Shodan's return in Other Sides' "System Shock 3," the game is reportedly developed by an all-star team.

"System Shock" producer Warren Spector is set to head the game's development team, Forbes has learned. Specter is known for his works, which include "Ultima Underworld," "Ultima Underworld II," "Ultima VII Part Two: Serpent Isle," "Ultima VI," "Wing Commander," and "Thief: The Dark Project."

As per the publication, "Lord of the Rings Online's" Arturo Pulecio is set to be the art director for the game. He is known for his works, such as "Dungeons and Dragons Online," "Dark Age of Camelot," and "Warhammer Online."

"Wing Commander" and "Star Wars" producer Jason Hughes is set to be the tech team's director while "Deus Ex" and "Deus Ex: Invisible War's" Sheldon Pacotti is on board to pen the game's gameplay.

When it comes to voicing AI Shodan, Terri Brosius is set to reprise the role. Brosius is known for her works, which include "Deus Ex: Invisible War," "Freedom Force," "Freedom Force Vs the Third Reich," "Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri," "Thief: The Dark Project," and "Thief: Deadly Shadows."

Spector confirmed Shodan's come back to "System Shock 3" and gave his word on how the AI is set to impact the game. In his interview with Polygon, Spector said that Shodan was the heart and soul of "System Shock" games and that was the beauty of "System Shock 3," adding that nobody else had Shodan.

Spector continued to explain the changes Shodan is set to undergo in the game. In the same interview, he said that Pulecio had been working on their version of Shodan, which was going to be interesting and different from what people expected. For Spector, it would infuriate some people but definitely get people talking.

Along with Shodan's return as some plot changes. According to Spector, they were going to be exploring the concept of a super intelligence and what would motivate a super intelligent AI. Also, they were going to be picking up all of the loose threads of "System Shock 2."

For the time being, exact details on the release date of "System Shock 3" are yet to be revealed.
