'Switched At Birth' Season 5 News, Spoilers: Lizzy Reveals Series Ends With Season 5, Centers On Toby and Lily
In addition to series creator Lizzy Weiss revelation that "Switched At Birth" season 5 was going to be Toby and Lily-centric, she has also announced that the series is set to end with season 5.
On Mar. 12, Weiss wrote on her Twitter account that the season 5 of "Switched At Birth" would be their final one. The series creator mentioned that she and the crew were ending the show, following an 103 episodes with love, pride, and gratitude, which she described as "amazing."
Weiss also followed up her tweet with her expression of gratitude towards the "Switched At Birth" fans. On Mar. 14, she tweeted, "Thank you for letting me know what the show has meant to you over the years." The series creator said that she was very touched, adding that they had achieved a lot with the "little show."
While "Switched At Birth" saw a decline on the number of its audience over the years, with season 4 getting about 840,000 viewers, the fans' love for the series because of its societal elements made Freeform decide to renew it for another season, according to Christian Today.
In his interview with Variety in 2015, Freeform Programming and Development Executive Vice President Karey Burke said that "Switched At Birth" continued to run fresh and relatable storylines, which tackled important issues in the society and reflected what the audience experience in their daily lives.
Previously, Weiss told The Wrap (via Ecumenical News) that "Switched At Birth" season 5 is set to focus the spotlight to Toby and Lily, who were just starting on a new journey together with their baby. For the series creator, it was a "really beautiful moment."
Also, the series is set to see three new characters - Luca, Ally, and Noelle - who are played by Michael Galante, Tristin Mays, and Valery Ortiz, respectively.
"Switch at Birth" season 5 is set to be back in April on Freeform.
