Surface Pro 4 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Two Versions Launching Q4 of 2015?

As far as features, flexibility, and performance are concerned, Microsoft offered an entirely new experience when it released the Surface Pro 3 in June 2014. Now, the Redmond-based company plans to raise the standard as well as expectations of its users by launching an enhanced device in the form of Surface Pro 4.

Design & Trend speculates that the Surface Pro 4 will be available in two models. The larger of the two models may come with a screen size of up to 14 inches, rendering a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels, while the smaller variant, which is likely to be called the Surface Pro 4 Mini, will come with an 8-inch screen size with a less sharp resolution.

There are also rumors that the upcoming Surface Pro 4, both variants, will be sport Microsoft's latest Windows 10 "unified interface" platform. Initially, Microsoft planned to release the new unified operating system in April, 2015. However, Kevin Turner, the company's Chief Operating Officer, recently said that the Windows 10 will be officially released sometime later in 2015, as a beta version is still being developed. This is possibly an indication of the fact that Microsoft will now release the Surface Pro 4 during the fourth quarter of 2015.

As far as the hardware specs of Surface Pro 4 are concerned, both the variants will possibly be powered by Intel's Core M Broadwell processors that have been acclaimed highly for their energy efficiency. Nevertheless, the Design & Trend report said that the chips are short of the required processing power essential to overtake the "Core i processors" that currently power the Surface Pro 3. Hence, it is speculated that Microsoft may be using lower performing processors with a view to lower price tag of the upcoming devices.

However, Microsoft still needs to make an official announcement regarding the precise details of the purported device, its release date, as well as its price.
