Surface Pro 3 Specs News, Update: Battery Woes Addressed Through New Firmware?

After about a month of tweaking, Surface Pro 3 owners received good news when Microsoft finally released the firmware that addresses the fast draining battery on its devices.

Accordingly, Surface Pro 3 owners could not work on their device unless it's permanently plugged into an electrical outlet, said the report. Once they rely on the battery, the usage can only be counted in minutes.

Even those who purchased new batteries didn't find relief, which only bolstered Microsoft's statement that it's a software problem.

Now, the news report said that a firmware update on the Windows 10 will fix the issue.

However, don't expect an immediate fix because users need to charge for several cycles before the problem correct itself. Or as Microsoft said, the battery drain issue will "self-correct over the next several charge and discharge cycles."

According to RedMond magazine, this wasn't the first news about a problem involving the Surface Pro 3. Earlier this year, Microsoft had to recall power cords, about two million of them, because of the danger they pose to consumers.

Meanwhile, Infoworld said that the public deserves better from Microsoft because the company took weeks in order to address the battery woes on the Surface Pro 3. This, after getting news from frustrated users and yet the company initially could not give a satisfactory answer.

For example, the company was told of the problem on Mar. 16, and it pinpointed the issue on May 11. It conceded that there's really a problem only on July 17, and the firmware update was released on Aug. 29.
