Surface Book 2 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Upcoming Device Equipped With New Intel Kaby Lake?

Rumors are rife about Microsoft's new Surface Book 2 being equipped with the new Intel Kaby Lake dual-core processor, which means that it won't be releasing this year.

The new Kaby Lake is reportedly going to be released in the third quarter of 2016, rumors claimed. If the Surface Book is going to integrate the processor, it's going to be a tight squeeze if the tech giant is going to push the deadline.

There's also another reason why the release date of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 won't happen until early next year and that's because the first gen only released months ago. The early reviews were not really as enthusiastic as one would hope.

For instance, users have noted a gap between the keyboard and screen when the laptop is closed. The problem was pointed to the dynamic fulcrum hinge of the device. Second the tablet drains rather quickly when not connected to the dock.

According to Tech Radar, it would be more prudent for Microsoft to just wait for the Kaby Lake processor.

"Microsoft may have arrived at the conclusion that Intel's next-generation Kaby Lake processors would be the answer," it said. "The 14-nanometer microprocessor architecture from Intel is slated to go into volume production at the end of 2016."

Previously, it was reported that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will be equipped with 4K display, along with the Windows 10 and Redstone 2 update. While it may be the same size as its predecessor, rumors claimed that the device will have a better battery life.
