Surface Book 2 News, Specs Rumors: Release Date Set For Early 2017?
By now, the speculation about the delay in the release date for the Surface Book 2 was because Microsoft is waiting for the Intel Kaby Lake processor to come out, which is expected to be in late 2016.
But fans should take this as a good thing, said IBTimes, since the Surface Book was wracked with a host of problems that are downright annoying.
"The first generation Surface Book encountered various kinds of problems such as frequent shutdowns, overheating, battery performance issues and more," it said. "Microsoft is rumored to be delaying the Surface Book 2 release date to ensure that the upcoming device is not plagued such problems."
There's also some rumors about the delay in the release date of the Surface Book 2 was because of Microsoft waiting for the Redstone 2.
"Microsoft's next Windows 10 operating system, which is rumored to be released in Q4 2016 or spring 2017, is said to be still in the middle of development," it said.
Meanwhile, Tech Radar said that the Surface Book 2 could use a lot more power, even with the Kaby Lake able to support more powerful processors.
One of the major issues of the first generation was the four-hour battery in the Clipboard; or if attached to the base will run to eight hours. With the specs rumors of the resolution running to 4K, that battery life just won't be enough.
All things considered, the rumors alleged that the release date for the Surface Book 2 will be in March of 2017 at the very earliest. For now, there's no official word from Microsoft for any confirmation in any of the news reports surrounding the device.
