'Supernatural' Season 12 Trailer, Premiere News: Upcoming Season To Reveal More Of Castiel's Past [PROMO]

"Supernatural" season 12 will reveal more of Castiel's past.

According to reports, a Castiel-centered episode is coming to season 12. The focus on his character is said to come from a new plan to plot the season out by Andre Dabb, who has been penning the script of the series since season 4. The showrunner reportedly has plans to shake things up in season 12 following the explosive events in season 11 involving God and Amara.

Dabb recently revealed in his interview with Entertainment Weekly that season 12 will be more personal and less climactic.

"It's about telling smaller stories that impact more of our characters," he said.

"For example, this year, especially toward the middle of the season, we're using Castiel in standalone episodes in a way that he hasn't been used in a long time," he further explained.

The showrunner cited episode 12 of season 12 as an example. According to him, the episode will largely deal with Castiel and his journey. He said viewers should expect this episode to reveal some things about his past that they were not initially aware of.

"That's very heavily about Castiel and the journey he's been on, some things from his past that we're not aware of are getting brought to light," he said, referring to episode 12 of the upcoming season.

Given Castiel's long past, there is so much history to tell about his character. Focusing on the fan favorite angel is a good move, especially since the previous season saw him become Lucifer's vessel.

"Supernatural" season 12 premieres on October 13, 9:00 P.M. on The CW. Watch the promo below.
