'Supergirl' Season 2 News, Spoilers: 'Superman' Going To Appear In 'Supergirl' Premiere Episode?

The Man of Steel is headed to the National City in "Supergirl" season 2.

Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman, will make a special appearance in the first two episodes of the series, as revealed by
"Supergirl" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.

"Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of 'Supergirl,'" said Kreisberg.

Though the character has not been cast yet, Kreisberg revealed that they are currently in the casting process for the role. That means that big-screen Superman Henry Cavill is not crossing over to the small screen.

In "Supergirl," Clark Kent is the cousin of Kara. In the series, Kara is often shown talking to her cousin via instant messages and texts, but he only appeared as a child in flashbacks. And while his boots were the only ones shown in one of the later episodes of the previous season, fans of the series can now expect to see his face soon.

Producers of the series have not yet announced who the new Man of Steel will be, but fans are already thinking of a few possibilities. These include Tom Welling, Matt Bomer, Zachary Levi and Matthew Goode.

In one of his interviews, Kreisberg said, "if you're going to cast Superman, you've got to cast Superman right!"

"For us, Superman is more of an idea than it is a personification of the character, so we're more than happy to have him backlit," he added.

The CW will feature a DC Comics-based superhero series starting this fall, Monday to Thursday nights at 8:00 P.M.
