'Supergirl' Season 2 News: New Season Gets Bigger And Better With Superman, Miss Martian, Mon-El, Etc.

With the addition of Superman and other popular comic book characters, "Supergirl" season 2 is expected to be bigger and better.

In his interview with Collider, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg shared how he felt about the fact that they could now do in season 2 what they could not do in season 1. Comparing the upcoming season to the famed "Star Wars" sequel "Empire Strikes Back," the executive producer said things are getting deeper next season.

"In a way, it's almost like a sequel, and I don't mean that in terms of it being dark. When you look at 'Empire Strikes Back' compared to 'Star Wars,' because you'd already introduced the characters and gotten that out of the way, you were able to go deeper with the characters and have more introspection, and watch them grow and learn. In some ways, the show is a little bit more comic book-y, with the addition of Superman and some of the things we're trying, but it's also gotten richer, with some of the characters and what they'll be exploring this season," he told Collider.

Unlike "Empire Strikes Back," though, "Supergirl" has always been known for its optimistic outlook. And since what most people like most about the show are its characters, giving some deeper focus on some of them sounds interesting.

"Supergirl" season 2 promises new content and characters to push the story forward. Aside from Tyler Haechin's Superman, Miss Martian, Christopher Woods' Mon-El and Linda Carter's President are also joining the cast of the upcoming season.

"Supergirl" returns for its second season on Oct. 10, 8:00 p.m. on The CW.
