'Supergirl' News: CBS Chairman Confident In Sharing Time Slot With 'Gotham'
CBS' upcoming 'Supergirl' series will have a lot to prove right out the gate, and now only due to the show's initial criticism.
'Supergirl' will be accompanied with the many other DC Comics television series that will be on the air in the fall, and it has conspicuously shared a timeslot with Fox's 'Gotham.'
While many would view this as a problem, CBS chairman Nina Tassler has revealed that she isn't worried and doesn't consider the Batman prequel series any competition.
Tassler spoke at the TCA's on Monday stating:
"Well, I think that they're different audiences. I think Supergirl has a much bigger, broader audience. It's more family entertainment. And they look different, they feel different."
She also goes on to reference the trailer's popularity since its debut in May. However she fails to mention the sleight of dislikes it managed to amass during its run.
"We had 14.1 million streams of the [Supergirl] trailer. I don't think anyone is worried about, 'Oh my god, there's not enough audience out there to watch both those shows.' I think there will be."
"As of today, the initial Supergirl trailer actually has 14,200,000+ views on CBS's YouTube channel and, by comparison, FOX's original Gotham trailer has 10,500,000+ views on that network's official YouTube channel - and considering that Gotham now been airing for the past year, the interest in the Supergirl trailer, at the least, is notable," writes IGN.
'Supergirl' premieres on October 26, while 'Gotham' returns to Fox on September 21.
