'Supergirl' New Series News: First Official Villain Revealed - The Lumberjack Set to Appear

Fans became excited as Kara Zor-El's first antagonist for CBS's upcoming crime thriller 'Supergirl' has finally been revealed.

It has been recently reported by TV Line that the Kryptonian will have her hands tied with no other than the Lumberjack. The villain is pretty obscure within the DC comic world and has only appeared once.

Lumberjack hasn't been cast yet, but by the character's massive size depiction, they'll likely be looking for someone who can fill those shoes literally.

"Kara Danvers née Zor-El will have her work cut out for her from the get-go, seeing as her adversary in the series pilot will be the DC Comics baddie Lumberjack. To that end, the CBS freshman is seeking a hulk akin to 'Rory McCann, the 6-foot-6 actor from Game of Thrones' to play this 'big, burly monster of a man, who has battled Kara's cousin' - that'd be you-know-who - 'in the past' and shows up to ascertain her level of power, on behalf of an unseen superior," writes TVLine.

The Lumberjack will only be one of Supergirl's adversaries as he will be sent by a higher force who wishes to test the full extent of her powers.

It is unknown how exactly CBS will spin this, but from his obscurity and non-serious tone, fans are worried about how the show will be taken.

"In the comics, The Lumberjack made his sole appearance in 1980's Wonder Woman #268 -- where he fought Wonder Woman alongside two other forgotten villains, Red Fang and Changeling," writes IGN.

At a certain point, with all the DC villains that are currently on television, it should be expected that the networks will start hitting some diminishing returns.

As it stands, there's no official premiere date for the upcoming 'Supergirl' series.
