'Supergirl' New Character News: Cat Grant, Kara Zor El's Boss, to be Played by Calista Flockhart
The cast of CBS's upcoming show 'Supergirl' continues to grow with the addition of Calista Flockhart in the role of Cat Grant. Flockhart will star opposite of the lead, Melissa Benoist, and will play Kara Zor El's boss.
"In CBS' incarnation, Cat is the self-made media magnate and founder of CatCo. Cat started her career as a reporter and has built her company into a global powerhouse," writes The Hollywood Reporter.
Flockhart is most known for her title role in 'Ally McBeal' which spanned for five seasons on Fox. She also had a successful run on ABC's 'Brothers and Sisters'. This will mark a big return for the actress.
"Now 24, Kara feels disempowered, a slave to having repressed her innate abilities. She's still pretty, but with her face hidden behind glasses and her hair pulled back, she doesn't know it herself. But an unexpected disaster forces her to use her powers in public. Energized by her heroic deed, for the first time in her life Kara begins embracing her extraordinary abilities. She begins helping the people of her city, and they soon take notice. She's even given a new moniker: Supergirl," writes The Hollywood Reporter.
Along with these two characters, actor Mechad Brooks has also been picked up as Jimmy Olsen, and Laura Benati as Supergirl's mother.
'Supergirl' is believed to premiere sometime this year on CBS.
