'Super Smash Bros.' Character Leak News: Two New Characters Leaked Ahead of Release
A recent Nintendo hack has resulted in a huge leak for the upcoming characters set to be added to 'Super Smash Bros.' for the Wii U.
Short clips for both Ryu from 'Street Fighter,' and Roy from 'Fire Emblem' series have both revealed their debut as playable characters in the game. Ryu happened to be the bigger surprise as Roy has been a character in the series' previous iteration, 'Super Smash Bros. Melee.'
"The leak was a result of hackers exploiting a Japanese update for the games that went up earlier than expected, according to Nintendo Everything. The newly unveiled treasure trove of leaks contained images of a Splatoon trophy, costumes from Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Mega Man and Animal Crossing, and some new stages such as DreamLand 64. The biggest discoveries are the two victory videos from Classic Mode showing Ryu and Roy in action," writes IGN.
The leak however doesn't stop there, as costume colors for each of the characters were revealed, along with trophies, battle stage music, and new stages for various characters, including one based on Ryu's 'Street Fighter II.' It is also rumored that expert hackers are even playing with the characters currently.
"This leak comes shortly before Nintendo's pre-E3 Super Smash Bros. presentation, where series creator Masahiro Sakurai would reveal his plans for new DLC for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS. Supposedly news about Ryu and Roy joining the roster was going to be a part of that presentation. An update that adds fan-favorite Lucas, from Mother 3, and Splatoon Mii fighter costumes is scheduled to go live on June 14," writes IGN.
Nintendo has not yet responded about the incident.
