'Super Smash Bros 4' New Character News, Rumors: SSB Update 1.06 Datamined – Ryu & Roy to Appear?

With all the news about some of the new characters set to appear in 'Super Smash Bros 4', one might get the idea that the game's reached its limit. However, that's not the case as new datamined information leads many to believe that Street Fighter's Ryu and Fire Emblem's Roy will become playable characters.

New information comes from Reddit user shinyquagsire23 who posted the results of his or her datamining venture with the new SSB4 update 1.06. It seems as though some of the sound file's and he or she has discovered leads many to believe that the two aforementioned characters will eventually be included.

The names of the files, "snd_bgm_SF01_SF2_Ryu_3DS" and "snd_bgm_Z81_F_Ryu_3DS," and their extensions indicate that this has something to do with 'Street Fighter' music and the popular character Ryu.

Beyond that, shinyquagsire23 has posted Dropbox links to the datamined files, however, that account has since been throttled, so it may to difficult to actually hear the file. Nevertheless, some other Redditors who have taken it upon themselves to check out the leaked files, confirm that they do indeed include 'Street Fighter' soundtrack music.

On that note, while it hasn't been confirmed that Ryu will actually be a playable character in 'Super Smash Bros 4' the fact that the files were discovered in the update, means there's at least a good chance of it.

Moving along, some of the other sound files discovered by means of datamining update 1.06, are ones that concern 'Fire Emblem' character Roy, However, those 'Smash Bros' fanatics out there, can remember that Roy was 'Super Smash Bros Melee' and was later replaced by Ike in 'Brawl'.

Some gamers might be of the view that since the character has already been in a Smash game, a considerably popular one, there's a good chance that he's going to make a come back.

Stepping into the evidence that would lead people to this conclusion, the sound file "snd_bgm_Z83_F_Roy_3DS" seems rather convincing.

Beyond all that, it's important to note that even though some of the files tucked away withing the 'Super Smash Bros 4' update 1.06 exist, that doesn't mean Nintendo will actually implement them. On a side note, some unused Roy elements have been found in Nintendo Wii's 'Super Smash Bros Brawl', so nothing can be said for sure.

Nevertheless, fans of 'Super Smash Bros 4' should remain positive as Nintendo seems to be doing a good job adding and changing up the game for avid players. For a closer look as some of the datamined files check out the Reddit post here.
