Pepsi returns for the third consecutive year as the title sponsor for this year's Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show, considered the most-watched musical event of the year.
PepsiCo will be bringing along its portfolio of products to the event, such as Pepsi, Gatorade, Quaker, Tropicana and Frito-lay. The company will also be working together with executive producer Ricky Kirshner and director Hamish Hamilton, zeroing in on Pepsi's fan-focused "Hyped for Halftime" campaign.
The Grammy-nominated singer will be following in the footsteps of other acts that have performed for the Super Bowl.
Bruno Mars performed the previous year at the MedLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, while Beyoncé performed in New Orleans in 2013. Madonna appeared in 2012, accompanied by Nicki Minaj and M.I.A, and the Black Eyed Peas performed in 2011.
Other performers for the halftime show have included Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, The Who, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Rolling Stones, Prince, U2 and Paul McCartney, according to NFL.
Perry is currently on her Prismatic World Tour, and after the Super Bowl announcement, she tweeted, "3 AMA'S & SUPER BOWL?! Not long ago I was playing guitar on the streets of Santa Barbara for maybe 20 bucks a day & an avocado. Wow, life!"
Super Bowl XLIX will be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Feb. 1, 2015.
