In an effort to celebrate the first anniversary of Xbox One's launch, and to promote 'Sunset Overdrive', Microsoft has announced that they and Insomniac Games are inviting all Xbox Live Gold members to avail the game for 24 hours.

The free promotional trial of 'Sunset Overdrive' will be available for download on November 22 at 12:01 EST.

According to MajorNelson, "This is the full game; players will earn achievements and be able to save how far they progress during that 24 hour span. If you decide to purchase the game at a later point, you will be able to start again right where you left off."

For those that not familiar with the game, 'Sunset Overdrive' takes the player into an open world metropolis known as Sunset City in the year 2027. Gamers will immediately note that the city has been overrun by mutants known as "OD."

While the player can be customized in regards to his or her appearance, one things remain the same, the character is a former employee of the FizzCo company, the beverage producer that's responsible for all the mutants.

The player is tasked to handle all the mutants that are running rampant around the city after drinking too much of the new energy drink released by FizzCo, Overcharge Delirium XT.

Beyond all that, 'Sunset Overdrive' is an open world third person shooter, which can be played multiplayer (up to eight players).

In regards to the multiplayer aspect and the free promotional download, MajorNelson said, "Sunset Overdrive's 8-player cooperative multiplayer experience, Chaos Squad, will also be available for everyone tomorrow. Please note: Chaos Squad must be unlocked by playing a certain amount into the campaign."

Last but not least, following the free weekend, Insomniac Games' All-Star team has announced that they will be unveiling several new weapons that will be added to the game.
