'Suicide Squad' Plot News: Captain Boomerang to be Played by Martial Arts Master Jai Courtney
Unfortunately, many details about David Ayer's Suicide Squad remain a mystery. While the plot has been kept secret, news about the cast is sure to perk up fan's ears. Jai Courtney, who will play Captain Boomerang, told sources this week that he is getting his body ready for the film.
At the premiere of The Divergent Series: Insurgent, Courtney said, "I've been training for three months in different martial arts. As you can imagine for that superhero world, the athletic expectations are rather high."
The news about the villain being a martial arts master is sure to bring delight to avid fans of the character and his role in the DC Comics universe.
Interviewers at the premiere prodded Courtney into revealing anything about the plot, but he told them that he couldn't reveal anything. "I'm working with a great cast. It's a wonderful group, and I'm really pumped to be working among them," he told them.
Courtney went on the say that his character will be Australian, so he gets to keep his native accent. In recent weeks, images of being in his Captain Boomerang costume were leaked. The star quickly announced that the images were not official and that his costume, along with others, would be revealed all in due time.
Courtney stars in the Insurgent film and is also known for his role in A Good Day to Die Hard.
Courtney will star in Suicide Squad along with Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Cara Delevigne as Enchantress and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
Production for the film begins in April and will be released in theaters on August 5, 2016.
