'Suicide Squad' Cast News: Jared Leto Reportedly Stays in Character Off Set
No role in David Ayer's 'Suicide Squad' has fans been more skeptical of than Jared Leto's Joker. The casting was something no one was expecting, and there are still those that doubt his aptitude to emulate the psychotic villain.
The actor has made many claims to taking this role to the next level and with recent news of some his antics during production, there's reason to believe that. According to Adam Beach, actor who portrays Slipknot in the film, Leto has stayed in character even off set to fully commit to the character. He goes the extra mile by performing peculiar acts that are reminiscent of the villain.
"He sent [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it-a live rat," said Beach to E! Online. "It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter, and a dead hog... Basically, what he said was, 'Guys, I can't be there but I want you to know I'm doing my work as hard as you guys.' The video he showed is in character. It blew our minds away. Then we realized that day, this is real... He encompasses this beautiful man and he shows it in, 'Hello, how are you?' But in an instant, he goes to psychotic behavior where you're in fear. But you love him because he has both of those genuine sides."
While we still haven't seen any official footage of the villain emulating the character, fans are hopeful some nice teasers are dropped during next month's Comic-Con.
'Suicide Squad' will hit theaters August 5, 2016.
