'Suicide Squad' New Cast News: Super Villains Turned Heroes Hope to Pull in Actor Joel Kinnaman

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the cast of the upcoming DC Comics' film, 'Suicide Squad', is rounding out. New reports have Joel Kinnaman, of 'Robocop,' fame, in negotiations to take on the role of 'Suicide Squad' leader Rick Flag.

The film story surrounds a group of DC Comic villains seeking redemption by undertaking extremely dangerous government assignments.

If Kinnaman does decide to join the cast, he'll be in great company. David Ayers has been brought on to direct the film, and Warner Bros has already shared their vision of the film with fans.

Touted as the superhero version of "Ocean's Eleven," the film has already generated enormous excitement. According to Slash film, the movie has already secured Jared Leto as The Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney as Boomerang.

There has also been a rumor that Viola Davis will also be joining the cast in the role of Amanda Waller. Waller is the leader of the entire 'Suicide Squad' operation.

If all those currently linked to the project remain onboard, 'Suicide Squad' may be the breakout hit of Summer 2016. Big names like Will Smith, recent Oscar winner Jared Leto, and Viola Davis lend enormous credibility to the film.

Shooting for the movie is scheduled to begin April of this year in Toronto. The film is scheduled to hit theaters August of 2016.

Casting for the role of Rick Flag had been linked to several names in Hollywood, including Tom Hardy and Jake Gyllenhaal. Many in the cast signed on to the film prior to reading the completed screenplay.

Changes to casting happen as the project details become finalized, and because the role of Rick Flag has been linked to quite a few Hollywood names, insiders say that the deal is far from being finalized. At this point, things could still fall apart.
