'Suicide Squad' Cast News: Actress Viola Davis Confirmed for Amanda Waller Role

The cliffhanger news of Viola Davis being considered for the role of Amanda Waller in the upcoming 'Suicide Squad' movie has finally turned into an official confirmation.

With all of the movie's recent twist and turns with casting, it is great news that the movie is finally moving forward with all of its main characters in confirmed roles.

E! Talk was luckily able to catch up with the Oscar nominated actress on the red carpet for her final word on it.

"ETalk asked Davis if she'll be in Toronto this summer to shoot Suicide Squad. She nodded several times and then replied, 'Yes'. Her husband Julius Tennon actually confirms it before she can. After she made it official he enthusiastically shouts, 'Amanda Waller is in the house!' It's a cute moment," writes Comicbook.

Davis has spoken about the role many times, but this would mark the moment she confirms that she'll for sure will be taking it on.

"For those of you who don't know, Waller serves as a sort of de facto leader of the Suicide Squad, a team of incarcerated supervillains who do covert operations for the government in exchange for shortened sentences. The character has been played in live action a couple of times before, notably by Jackie Brown's Pam Grier on Smallville and Angela Bassett in the Ryan Reynolds film Green Lantern," writes Geek Tyrant.

'Suicide Squad' will be making its way to theaters on August 5th 2016.
