‘Suicide Squad’ Cast News: Actors Will Smith, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, & More
Following all the rumors about which actors and actresses would be appearing in the upcoming 'Suicide Squad' movie, Warner Bros. went ahead and announced the official cast list on Wednesday.
The movie, which is the second DC/Warner Bros. film after 'Batman v Superman' will star Will Smith, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, and Margot Robbie.
Smith will play Deadshot, the masked assassin who is more popularly known for his role as a villain in Batman, while Leto will take on the role of DC's new Joker.
Robbie will be Harley Quinn, who's the Joker's sidekick and his on and off girlfriend, and Tom Hardy will be playing Rick Flagg, a character who may be the leader of the squad.
The Hollywood Reporter adds that Jai Courtney and model Cara Delevingne will also be in the movie.
Courtney will be Captain Boomerang, while Delevingne will play the sorceress- Enchantress.
The film is written and will be directed by David Ayer and will be produced by Richard Suckle and Charles Roven.
Zack and Deborah Snyder, who are both already at the helm of other DC movies will be the films executive producers, along with Colin Wilson and DC COO, Geoff Johns.
In a statement released by WB's president of creative development and worldwide production Greg Silverman, he said that the "Warner Bros. roots are deep" in the movie.
Silverman added that 'Suicide Squad' will bring Ayer back to Warner Bros., the studio where he wrote 'Training Day'.
"[Ayer] brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property with a cast of long time Warner collaborators Will Smith and Tom Hardy, and other new and returning favorites: Margot, Jared, Jai and Cara," he said.
"We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer's amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero," Silverman added.
As it stands, 'Suicide Squad' is set to be released on Aug. 5, 2016.
