'Street Fighter V' New Character News: Capcom Releases Updated Roster for Upcoming PS4 & PC Title
Eager gamers were excited to learn that 'Street Fighter V' Producer Yoshinori Ono recently spoke on the upcoming game's character roster in an interview at the Taipei Game Show.
Ono wishes to keep the roster smaller than previous games, as he wants to break new players into the franchise a bit easier, although he expresses his regard for fans' input.
The console versions of 'Street Fighter IV' had up to 25 characters, while the 'Ultra' version of the game carried 44.
In terms of who we will see in the next iteration, Ono has confirmed some staples to the franchise, along with reintroducing Charlie Nash, a character he announced at the Capcom Cup Tournament last December.
"To date, Street Fighter V has three confirmed characters, Ryu, Chun-Li, and Charlie Nash. Ono says that fans had been requesting for Charlie's return to the Street Fighter series since Street Fighter III. The developers couldn't justify the existence of Charlie and Guile in the same game, presumably in reference to Street Fighter IV, because of their similar gameplay mechanics and special moves," writes IGN.
It is still unknown how Capcom plans to spin the character, but recent developments and pictures have given some fans clues.
"There are a couple things we can infer from these statements-either Guile's future in Street Fighter V is shaky due to his mentor's reappearance or Charlie has been changed enough that featuring both won't feel redundant. We've yet to receive any details on Mr. Nash since he was revealed, but it's possible the strange mark seen on his forehead (pictured above) in the previous teaser is a sign of things to come gameplay-wise," writes Shoryuken.
On that note, 'Street Fighter V' is confirmed to be released on PS4 and PC, but no release date has been confirmed.
