'Steve Jobs' Biopic Locks Down Full Star Studded Cast: Fassbender, Rogen, Winslet & More
The long talked about "Steve Jobs" biopic finally moves forward with a confirmed cast as reported by Universal Studios.
"The ensemble will be comprised of Michael Fassbender as Jobs, Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak, Kate Winslet as former Macintosh marketing boss Joanna Hoffman, Jeff Daniels as former Apple CEO John Sculley, Katherine Waterston as Jobs' ex-girlfriend Chrisann Brennan and Michael Stuhlbarg as one of the original developers of the Mac, Andy Hertzfeld," writes Entertainment Weekly.
Others casted were Perla Haney-Jardine, Ripley Sobo, Makenzie Moss, Sarah Snook and Adam Shapiro. On that note, the movie will be directed by Danny Boyle and was scripted by Aaron Sorkin.
The studio released this short synopsis for the film:
"Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, the film takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter."
The movie will be based off the biography written by Walter Isaacson.
The movie was shortly moved from Sony to Universal after they couldn't lock down a lead role for Steve Jobs. Actor Christian Bale was strongly considered but evidently didn't fall through.
"The tech innovator, who died in 2011 at the age of 56, was originally going to be played by Leonardo DiCaprio in an iteration first helmed by director David Fincher, and then taken over by Danny Boyle. DiCaprio soon backed out, leaving the spot open for Christian Bale," writes US Magazine.
The role was unpopular for many actors as early production constantly seemed troubled. Fassbender was finally chosen to lock down the role despite his plate being full with "Macbeth," "X-Men: Apocalypse," and "The Light Between Oceans."
The cast has already begun production in San Francisco, and the project is expected to be released in 2016.
